Not a Poem (not really, just a video poem! And lots of information…)

Hey everybody!

I just wanted to write a little post about what I’ve been up to these days. I’m still writing (yay for poetry!) and running…lots of running. I started running last year to burn off some anxiety and stress that I let build up in my life and it has done wonders for me. I trained for a half marathon and finished it in 2 hours and 11 minutes. I had hoped to finish it faster, but am going to redeem myself in 52 days at the Grandma’s Marathon (the half, not the full) in Duluth, Minnesota. Yayayay for running! Anyone else run?

That is me after running 13.1 miles!

Next, I’ve been toying with the idea of putting my poems into videos! How fun is this! I love trying new things and this seems to be the next step (might add a YouTube channel on top of everything else…weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!)

I am also going to have a friend video me when I read at our local poetry readings (the next one that I am going to is in June…so stay tuned for that!) If you are in Minnesota and want to see me read, send me an email and I’ll give you the details. For everyone else, I’ll post that video as soon as I make it!

So yesterday, I spent the majority of the day learning a video editing program…I am not that technically savvy…so please, forgive me for the simplicity of the poem and the video. I wanted to start out with something that was easier to work on…let me know what you think! It takes a great deal of time to put these together and I am not sure if it is worth it. Or I should just video myself reading my poetry instead.

ANY feedback is WELCOME, except saying that I am terrible at all the things and I should just stop writing…please don’t give me THAT kind of feedback.

(For those of you wondering, yes, I know I did not post a Fantasy Friday poem this week. I needed a bit of time off after I wrote my “Grief is a Thief” poem to regroup and get back on track…hoping to have one ready for this Friday!)

As always, thank you so much for reading my blog!

May my poetry kiss your soul so deeply that you carry my words with you for always.

  1. Hey Elizabeth, first I read somewhere that you run and now I want to tell you that running is a great idea and good job! Good luck in winning this Marathon as well, I mean who knows 😊😊👍
Good luck as well with the youtube channel, it will be a great idea as well and you are very talented in reading and you might have some voice over job hahah you have a great voice 😁😁
I’m so far from Minnesota so guess I’ll wait for the videos.😊
Regarding the video quality and editing skills, just start and you’ll get better, don’t worry about providing professional videos quality, the content is amazing and the rest will come 👍
Great poem as usually, we all have these full pockets that weigh us down before we decide to release them! And love how they were finally released👍
Looking forward to reading and listening to more work and best of luck always 😊❤

    1. Thank you so much Huguette! (I won’t win any marathons…I’m pretty slow in the world of running. I’m just happy I can get out there! It feels so good to move like that.) I’m so pleased you liked the poem! I had posted it before with just the audio and thought it would be a fun video to make. Thank you, as always, for your kindness and support. &*& &*& &*&

      1. Never say never dear, who knows where life can take us 😊 Run now and we’ll see hahaa
All your poems are great and they are really mind twisting and meaningful!
I’m sure I didn’t read it before, now I started from the beginning so I’ll get to read all your work 🤓
The video is a great idea and so is the audio, so you can always decide what’s best and more enjoyable for you 👍
My pleasure and wish you the best always 🤗🤗

      2. Oh no don’t delete anything, just revive them, that’s it 😊 I started this blog in 2012 and no one read my posts believe me and they were in Arabic and most posts from September 2018 (when I was back) are hardly read also but I keep them and I re-post some from time to time with translation, they remind me of the journey progress
Have a great time and you’ll always have my genuine support ❤

    1. Thank you, Tom, for watching and stopping by! Everyone has pockets…we all have to let a little out now and then (mine has been more of a deluge these days.) &*& (Those are Buddha’s hugging. I’m on my computer, old school style with no emoji’s.)

  2. Firstly, seeing you run and exercised has kinda motivated me to do the same😁 keep up the good job, a healthy body is absolutely essential for a healthy brain!
I do think there is something about reciting poems that makes them even more better, I guess it’s how the person speaking puts in emotions, sort of making the words come alive! What do you think about adding some soft music in the background, maybe some instrumental that matches with the theme of the poem?

    1. Yay a suggestion!! I was waiting for someone to give me a suggestion! Light music sounds great. I will play with the next one and see what happens. Thank you for your comment and idea! &*& (Buddha’s hugging)

  3. This I really like, it is different yet clear to so many, we all have those pockets where we hide things, forgetting that it can weigh us down. Can’t wait until your next poem. Xxx
